Mini Heroes – First Aid Training for Primary Schools

Mini Heroes is a fully-prepared first aid programme designed to help primary schools deliver meaningful, practical first aid education with ease. Created for children aged 4–11, it provides headteachers with a complete, ready-to-use solution that fits seamlessly into Health Education and supports whole‑school safeguarding priorities.

Every session is fully planned and ready to deliver. Teachers do not need any first aid expertise, and no lesson planning is required. Staff simply facilitate the learning using story-led scenarios, expert video demonstrations, structured slides and hands-on activities. This significantly reduces workload and ensures consistent, high-quality delivery across the school.

Mini Heroes focuses on building real, practical confidence, not just theoretical awareness. Pupils learn how to stay calm, recognise when someone needs help, call 999 effectively and take safe, age-appropriate actions. The Watch > Discuss > Do structure ensures children understand what to do and can practise it in a supportive, non‑scary way.

This training has genuine real-world impact. As a paramedic, I’ve attended emergencies where a child recognised something was wrong, called 999, stayed calm and gave clear information that allowed us to reach their parent in time. The programme covers EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, including emergency calls, safety awareness, common injuries, asthma, allergies, bleeding, burns, head injuries, choking, bites and stings. Upper KS2 pupils also receive a bonus CPR module, typically only taught in secondary schools.

With the Mini Heroes Starter Kit and pupil packs, schools receive a complete classroom‑in‑a‑box, including videos, lesson plans, posters, stickers, practical materials and take‑home resources. This 2 day Paediatric First Aid course is OFSTED compliant and fully meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework). It is written specifically for those working in childcare settings, making it ideal for nannies, au pairs, foster carers, primary schools, nursery staff, parents and carers.

Delivered by an experienced paramedic who has dealt with highly stressful paediatric emergencies, this course brings real‑world insight and practical confidence. Although taught by a paramedic, the training is clear, friendly and completely free from medical jargon. Every topic is explained in a way that is easy to understand, and the teaching is grounded in genuine experience handling the emergencies covered in the course.

The course includes a wide range of essential first aid skills, such as emergency actions, CPR for children, babies and adults, choking procedures, AED use, head injuries, asthma, shock, bleeding, burns, fractures, seizures, diabetes, meningitis, croup, sickle cell and much more.
